Life at Healix
My Internship Journey at Paramount Healthcare
Starting My Journey at Healix
My internship at Paramount Healthcare was an experience that I will remember for a long time. I joined the team in March 2026 as a Business Development intern.
At the beginning, I honestly did not know how much I would eventually be involved in the Healix ecosystem. My first few days were mainly about understanding the company, getting familiar with the Healix System, and learning how the different parts of the system connect with one another. I was introduced to the Patient and Clinic sides of Healix and started working on user manuals, workflows, FAQs, troubleshooting sections and supporting documents. This was also when I realised that Healix was not just about an application or a piece of software. It involved people, healthcare processes, users, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, businesses and many different moving parts.
One of the first things I learned was how to turn complicated system information into something that a normal user could actually understand. I worked on the Patient Manual first, followed by the Clinic Manual, and later the Lab, Pharmacy and Corporate Manuals. I spent a lot of time checking workflows, improving wording, arranging steps, creating quickstart guides, FAQs and troubleshooting content. I had to make sure the documents were consistent. Although documentation may sound simple, I found that it required a lot of patience and attention to detail. A small missing step could make a workflow confusing, so I learned to look at the system from the user's point of view.
From Documentation to Understanding the Bigger Picture
As the weeks went by, my role slowly became wider than documentation. I attended meetings and debrief sessions with the Healix Team and other departments where I was able to understand the system more deeply. I joined discussions about system workflows, clinic onboarding, API integration between Healix and Telis, new features and future improvements. I also became involved in ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 documentation, including reviewing the Statement of Applicability. This gave me a different perspective because I could see how business processes, technology and compliance had to work together.
One of the most exciting parts of the internship was getting the opportunity to step outside the office environment. I attended sessions with the Healix Team at KBMC and Klinik Safwa. I was able to observe how the Healix System was introduced and discussed with healthcare stakeholders. I also joined discussions with KPTM, UMK, PPD Kota Bharu and other stakeholders for potential HealixFit and HealixGives collaborations. These experiences helped me understand that Business Development is not only about preparing proposals or sending emails. It is also about communicating ideas, listening to people, understanding their needs, following up and finding ways for a product to create real value.
HealixFit: A Different Side of the Internship
My involvement in HealixFit became one of the parts of the internship that I enjoyed the most. I worked on programme proposals, programme structures, wellness activities, rewards ideas, promotional materials and event preparation. I was also involved in discussions about the HealixFit School Pilot Programme and the collaboration with KPTM. Seeing an idea move from a document on my laptop into something that involved actual students and partners was very satisfying. I helped with registration activities at KPTM, prepared materials for the HealixFitxKPTM programme, and supported the team during programme preparations. These activities allowed me to experience a more hands-on side of Business Development and made the internship feel much more dynamic.
Learning Healix by Doing It
Another major part of my journey was learning the Healix System well enough to explain it to other people. Towards the later part of my internship, I became more comfortable with the system and started participating in system demonstrations and Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions. I had the opportunity to present and explain different modules, including Patient, Clinic and Lab workflows. I discussed features such as payment, top up, refund, consultation, badges and many more. I also learned about the Lab Technician workflow and the integration between Healix and Telis.
This was a big step for me because I had started my internship mainly by writing about the system, but eventually I was able to talk about it and demonstrate it. Presenting in front of other people taught me to be clearer, more confident and more prepared. It also taught me that knowing a system is different from knowing how to explain a system. I had to understand the reason behind each step so that I could answer questions instead of simply reading from a manual.
The Fun, Challenging and Unexpected Moments
Of course, internship life was not always about serious meetings and documents. There were also many small moments that made the experience enjoyable. Working with the team, preparing for events, going out for meetings, helping with registration, discussing new ideas and sometimes simply figuring things out together made the working environment feel less like a classroom and more like a real workplace where everyone was learning from one another. I especially enjoyed the moments when I could see the result of something I had worked on being used by someone else.
There were definitely challenging moments too. Healix is a developing ecosystem, so information and workflows could change as the system evolved. I had to learn how to adapt, update documents, ask for clarification and avoid assuming that an old version was still correct. At times, there were many things happening at once, documentation, ISO work, meetings, proposals, events and follow-ups. Learning to prioritise and keep track of my work became an important part of my internship.
Growing from an Intern into a More Confident Team Member
Looking back at the whole journey from March to August, I can see a clear change in myself. I started by learning basic information about the company and writing simple workflows. Over time, I became more familiar with the Healix ecosystem, understood different user perspectives, participated in stakeholder meetings, prepared programme proposals and supported event activities. I also worked with the IT side of the project and eventually presented parts of the system myself. The experience pushed me outside my comfort zone in a good way.
I also learned that Business Development can be very closely connected to product development. In Healix, I saw how an idea could begin as a discussion, become a proposal and be translated into a system feature or programme. Then it required communication with users and partners before it could be implemented. Being involved across these stages helped me appreciate the importance of teamwork between Business Development, IT, operations and other stakeholders.
What I Will Take Away from Healix
More than the documents, meetings and programmes, the biggest thing I will take away from my time at Healix is the confidence to learn something unfamiliar and eventually make it my own. At the start, the Healix System felt quite overwhelming because there were so many modules, terms and workflows that were so foreign for me to understand. By the later part of my internship, I was able to explain the system, prepare materials, participate in discussions and contribute ideas.
That progress is something I am genuinely proud of.
My internship also taught me practical skills that I know I will use in my future career which are communication, presentation, documentation, teamwork, stakeholder engagement, follow-up, time management and problem solving. More importantly, I learned how to work with people from different backgrounds and how to ask the right questions when I do not know something.
A Thank You to the Healix Team
My life at Healix was much more than completing an internship requirement. It was a period where I got to explore a real healthcare technology environment, experience Business Development in practice and slowly build confidence in myself. I am grateful for the guidance, trust and opportunities given to me throughout the internship. From writing my first Healix workflow to participating in meetings, proposals, system demonstrations, HealixFit activities and learning sessions with the team. Every experience added something to my learning journey.
I am leaving this internship with a much clearer picture of how a growing healthcare technology ecosystem works, and, at the same time, many good memories of the people and experiences I had along the way.
Healix was definitely a learning curve, but it was also a fun one.
I am thankful that my internship gave me the opportunity to not only observe, but to actually be part of the journey.
A Few Memories Along the Way
Beyond the work itself, some of my favourite memories came from the people, places and activities I got to experience throughout the internship. These moments reminded me that the Healix journey was not only about completing tasks, but also about learning, connecting and enjoying the experience along the way.
